Bahamut's role as a summoned beast in Crisis Core is somewhat different
than his other apperances. In Crisis Core, Summons are treated as a variety
of Limit Break, which are released by way of a slot machine called the
Digital Mind Wave (DMW) in the top left corner of the screen. The slots
are made up of images of people from Zack's memory; when the left and
right images match, i.e., Sephiroth on left slot
and on right slot, you enter Limit Verge mode, which enlarges the slot
machine and stops time briefly. If the central image matches the other
two, you get a Limit Break corresponding to that character.
Occasionally,
Summoned Beasts will replace the characters seen after a Limit Verge is
initiated, and you will have a chance at summoning Bahamut. Please note,
it is entirely random as to which summon you will get; though various
events in the game make getting certain people like Sephiroth or Aeris
more likely, nothing seems to affect the outcome of the Summons slot machine.
BAHAMUT
Crisis Core
missions are divided into ten main categories, each with three to six
sub-categories, each with three to six missions. The names of the categories
and missions pertinent to Bahamut are "Zack, the Materia Hunter"
sub-category "Starting Out" mission "Rematch with Bahamut".
He appears as the final boss of Chapter 3.The Bahamut materia is found
in side-mission 8-1-4. The materia adds Bahamut to the Summoned DMW Slot
Machine, described above.
To unlock
mission 8-1-4 Clear chapter 03, then clear missions 8-1-1, 8-1-2, and 8-1-3.

Battle
notes:
Originally fought at Lv.11 with an HP+20% materia, Barrier materia, and
VIT+80 armor.
Your best
bet with Bahamut is to get an attack rhythm down and stick to it. He moves
around by vertical jumps, dives only, and does not walk around the battlefield.
Bahamut
will remain idle on the ground, usually for 5-6 seconds then decide to
attack. He has several ranged attacks, and a powerful melee attack as
well.
If you are
attacking from close range, you will have those 5-6 seconds to launch
as many attacks as you can. After that time period, he will draw his arm
back as if to backhand you; this is your cue to defend, as this attack
is powerful enough to oneshot you if your HP is anywhere around 1200.
His attack will knock you backwards a good fifteen to twenty feet, so
you will likely not have time for more than a single attack before he
takes to the air.
If you are
using magic to attack Bahamut from afar, he will use his Laser Orbs or
Lighting Bolt attacks instead of a physical one.
Bahamut
will jump around the battlefield after one or perhaps two attack rounds,
and then begin landing on large stone platforms outside your range of
attack. From here, he will use his ranged attacks exclusively, which are
guarded easily. Lightning Bolt is difficult to dodge so its recommend
to just Guard it. Laser Orbs can be dodged if you wish to save a few extra
hit points.
After taking
a certain quantity of damage, Bahamut will launch Mega Flare. Take note,
the attack will NOT kill you. It seems to function like a Gravity spell,
so have a Cure or Cura spell ready so that he does not kill you with his
follow-up attack. Keep Barrier up throughout the battle to lower your
risk of instant knockout.
